Handbook/Hiring
From Open Knowledge Foundation
< Handbook
This page gives some instruction on general hiring practice at the OKFN.
Usual process
- Jobs are advertised on: http://okfn.org/jobs
- Instructions for how to apply can vary but by default:
- Email to jobs [at] okfn [dot] org with e.g. [Python] in subject line.
- Once a week (or more frequently) submissions are reviewed. This may be by someone who is monitoring jobs email generally, or by someone looking after a specific role.
- All possibles get added to a shortlist spreadsheet (which is a google doc) and remainder are emailed notifying them that unfortunately we are unable to take them. The spreadsheet should have a separate sheet/tab for each advertised specific role.
- jobs email should be CCd on all email replies about jobs
- Plan interviews with shortlist and who will do what etc. The spreadsheet should be kept up to date with most recent contacts and any decisions/notes.
- Post interview(s) enter outcome / decision into the spreadsheet, along with a brief note of rationale if possible.
- Send follow up emails
