1) am in process of updating OKFN Chapters page on Website, Wiki Page and other Wiki docs so if you have good additions (or photos) let me know. Am also working on re-design of your Chapter Websites with other OKFN staff members (ie, http://fi.okfn.org) which will be changed in next few weeks - if you need certain widgets for the content of your websites, please let me know so we can add them]

1) Participated for the first time on the working group on open data organized by W3C Brasil since the beginning of the year; 2) Started a group together with W3C Brasil on datajournalism - the idea is to increase the number of people involved and a possible hackaton next year is the idea 3) Articulated a possible research on access to Information between Article 19, University of São Paulo and Access Info (discussion in progress!) 4) Articulated a debate on open educational resources at the Digital Culture Festival and talked a lot about Wikipedia Ambassadors program

0) We've had our first OKFN Belgium meeting a couple of weeks ago. 1) We are preparing the next OKFN Meetup in Helsinki for January in Aalto Fablab 2) Is the Open Data Challenge going to happen again next year?

For now OKFN Italy is a mailing list of activists. Each of them belongs to different other associations / organizations / groups We have often discussed whether to formalize in an association (and did that explicitly last September) Right now we think it is better to remain a sort of hub that shares a strategy in a strong relations with OKFN: not just open government data (many actors on that topic, even though it's not clear what the new government will bring), but open knowledge in general. As OKFN Italy the main contacts are Stefano Costa and Maurizio Napolitano.

• How do we start on the statutes? Do we take the OKFN UK ones and adapt it to our taste? To we start them from scratch? We will start our statutes ourselves and start the legal structure. Of course we will send the OKFN our statutes afterwards.
• Does the OKFN UK have any recommendations towards types of members and board structure? -> Daniel, Germany - pls answer?
• Answer from Daniel: I think its your local decission to find relevant people to start a open community. (others, including Kat, agree that this is a singular, local matter - several offer to help regarding like-minded orgs and people).

• Do we want this meeting to happen once a week, or once a month? And do we want to use Skype or another tool?

• I've done a Memorandum of Understanding between OKFn Brasil(?) and W3C Brasil for both collaborate (we are already collaborating). They've put my name to sign it, but I am not sure if this has some meaning and I want know how OKFn central will deal with this particular case. -> Kat to talk to Laura re: OKFN legalities

• How are other groups which already existed and involved with open knowledge facing the arrival of a local OKFn chapter? * Are they seeing positively a possbile hub of groups?
• looking for synergy over individual branding - important point - contributing to a bigger ecosystem

• Related to question 2. of Pieter, could you explain a bit about OKFn central board structure?

• Germany: 8 people on the board + working groups (openspending, FOIA, open science...)

• Is my activity on gathering people to a access to information research interesting to OKFn? A friend from Article 19 has invited me to use their office cause the liked very much some projects of OKFn and they want learn some of my IT skills (data visualizations, for instance). How could we collaborate?

• What type of communities have you tried to involve in OKFN chapter's setup process? I'm thinking about reaching out to: Open Access enthusiasts, journalists, librarians, FOI activists. What groups do you think could be the most interested?
• Answers: Organising Apps For X events is a good way to bring people together. We've done this in the past and in 2012 we have even more apps for X events planned. X can represent a city or a country, but it can as well represent a certain domain or subject (for instance youth work) Suggestions to check [1] & [2] Almost all Local Chapter organisers have said they were present at one of these events. Also help to:
• use existing momentums in local area, build off existing contacts
• lots of personal invites also, via email - make sure to find out who is sure to come
• local news stories if possible
• use interesting/ intriguing content in event, meeting up around a theme (data journalism etc)

• Possible hackaton on datajournalism in partnership with Estadão (http://estadao.com.br ). We've had a first meeting with journalists and a few developers, with the help of W3C Brasil. The hackaton is intended to be on February (after carnival).
