Projects
Open Government Data Catalogues
We would like to support the development of catalogues for open government data in countries across Europe. This includes:
- Ensuring data catalogues are interoperable
- Ensuring data catalogues support semantic web technologies
- Continue to develop requirements for data catalogues
- Improving user experience of data catalogues
European Apps for Democracy Contests
Work in this area includes:
- Promoting the use of open data in various European countries though competitions encouraging developers to create new applications and services.
- Highlighting the value and benefits of open data to society.
- Supporting the reuse of existing open source applications and services in other countries.
- Supporting national competitions as well as (eventually) an European wide competition.
EU Open Data Manual
Develope a live (regularly updated) "Open Data Manual" for Governments, especially in Europe in order to boost the Digital agenda and revitalize the democracy in the member states.
The manual would be openly and collaboratively developed by the network of experts around Europe (EU Open Data Working Group). The manual would be build on existing work, in particular - Unlocking the Potential of Aid Information (December 2009), Finnish Open Data Guidebook (March 2010) and a discussion paper produced by the Technical Advisory Group for the International Aid Transparency Initiative (March 2010).
